Worship Leading at AYF
Below are a few ideas/advice, we as leaders feel will
enhance
the important task of leading our worship times
together.
•
It's always great to start
with a prayer to dedicate the time to God and create a
reflective, responsive atmosphere.
• Even though it's creative, we recommend for you to not
organise a worship activity which involves everyone
moving around or writing on paper. These activities
work best with smaller groups (and we're not exactly
small!) or when we’ve got more time, e.g.
on Cloverley or Camp. If you want to do something else
creative then why not listen to a Christian track whilst
people think about something you’ve asked them to, or
watch a short video clip that may relate to the epilogue
or that has inspired you. Please remember to provide Rob
with the music or video in advance.
• Try and find out in advance who is giving the talk and
who is going to be in the band so you can ask them what
the theme is and link everything with what you decide to
do. If you are struggling with this, contact any of us
leaders and we'll get you in touch with them.
• If you have said you will lead worship with a friend
who can't make the evening anymore or who isn't prepared
to do it, again,
let one of us leaders know. We are more than happy to
help you.
• We have the time of worship to come together and
reflect and of course, worship God. It's a good way to
show the non-Christians what Christianity means to us
and how important worship is as part of our lives.
• Even though you may feel nervous and/or embarassed by
standing up at the front and leading our epilogue
worship time, do try and remember to speak clearly and
let everyone know exactly what's going to happen.
Everyone knows how daunting it must be to stand up in
front of a group- we're all supportive of you!
