Elliot Ash:
Abi introduced me to squash about 6 months ago now & over that period of
time between now & then I have got know God more & more. I was thinking
about being baptised a lot whilst I was on camp. Just a few weeks after the
holiday I had a chat with Ian Bryant & he told me about the baptism &
confirmation service & I decided I want to put God first in my life & be
cleaned of all my sin.
Tom Bryant:
I’ve been brought up from childhood in a Christian family, taken to church
each week & encouraged to take steps forward in my faith. When I was 8, I
decided I wanted to make a commitment to follow Jesus, at an event called
Jesus 2000. As I have grown up in the church I have seen God work in many
peoples’ lives, but all too often credited it to co-incidence (I’m a big fan
of science & logic) However, as I have matured I have seen God at work &
tried to understand what He wants for me. I can see how He has guided me to
the right school, taken me to my first YF on exactly the right week & made
sure I went on my first camp in 2005 even though I was very reluctant at
first. Since then, I have been to YF and Squash virtually every week. I’ve
been on Cloverley & my second camp, & I can’t wait for Cloverley 2007, or
camp for that matter. I am doing my second youth alpha course & co-lead my
school Christian Union. So it seems clear that God is already opening doors
for me to walk through with Him. In December last year I made a
re-commitment to follow God, & since then I have tried to understand what
God wants from me next. I was also given an extremely good bible; thanks YF
it has really helped.
I have always put off baptism & confirmation because I wanted to make it
really special and meaningful to myself. Over the last year I feel I have
really grown in confidence, understanding & in my relationship with God, & I
have taken on responsibilities & made steps forward in my faith. I now feel
sure that this is right for me, that God is who I’ve always been told He is,
& I have begun my walk with Him. The reason I am getting baptised &
confirmed is that I know God, I know I am walking with Him, & I want
everyone else to know that too.
Dan Chandos-Hall:
After making a commitment I am really keen to keep moving forward in my
faith & I feel the best way to do this is to be confirmed & make public the
fact that I want to live my life for God.
Ian Coleman:
I’ve been a Christian for just over a year now & feel that being confirmed
is the next step in my faith. I also want to show the rest of the church
that I’m a Christian & be part of the church family.
Natalie Deeming:
I would like to get confirmed because on camp I made a commitment & I would
just really like to share the commitment I made with my church family & my
friends.
Seb Evans:
I would like to be confirmed because I have become an even stronger
Christian since I have been going to YF. I made my commitment, made friends
& found God: found his love & found that this is where I should be & this is
what I should be doing - following God! So I decided to dedicate my life to
make sure that in every aspect I will follow him & share his love with
whoever it may concern. I want to make this commitment as I want people to
know my commitment to God, for myself mainly, but also to become more close
to God & understand his immense love for me even more than I do now!
Ellie Grice:
I've decided to be confirmed because I would like to share my life with
Christ. I have experienced God's love during some of the hardest & most
enjoyable times of my life. One of the times where I became closest to God
was at camp. Here I met some of my best friends & had a week I will never
forget. Being confirmed gives me the chance to feel stronger as a Christian
each day & to be part of God's plan for me.
Amy Hill:
I want to get confirmed because I haven’t been having the greatest of times
since I went back to school in September & I had times when I got very upset
about certain situations, but I shan’t go into that too much... But when I
felt I didn’t really have anyone to talk to about things, or turn to, God
has really been there. God has been like a rock to me, especially after YF
camp where I really got to know myself & my faith a whole lot more, & God
always seemed to help. If it’s just sending the right person to come & talk
to me or just making me feel better through prayers. He’s always been there!
And I don’t know how I got through things without him there before. Also I
have found some of the best friends ever through YF & have seen how great it
is to be part of Gods family! So I really want that to last & I just really
want to let God know that I really appreciate all he does for me, & do that
by dedicating my life to him so I can be part of his wonderful family which
is all of those guys in the church. And just show God how grateful I am of
him!
Tom Locke:
I want to be confirmed because I feel it’s the next step in my relationship
with God & I want the church, my family & friends to know that I am a
Christian. I feel it’s the right thing to do & I feel now I am ready to
publicly announce that I want to follow God.
Frankie Mitchell:
I made a commitment to God last February & I want to be confirmed now as a
way of showing this to everyone. Over the past few months, many things in my
life have made my faith grow stronger, & now I think that being confirmed is
the next step for me to take in my journey of faith.
Jess Morris:
I want to get baptised & confirmed because when I started coming to YF in
March this year, to be honest I wasn't really thinking about the Christian
side of it, but I started listening to the epilogues & talking to people
like Meg Hill & realised that it was making sense to me, & I wondered why I
had never realised before. Not having been born into a Christian family,
never having been to church & never reading parts of the Bible & thinking
about what they meant, my experiences of Christianity before YF were few &
far between, mostly a load of old people singing, but YF & camp has really
helped me to understand what it is really about.
Grace Morton:
Since making a commitment at camp several
amazing things have happened & as a result my faith has grown stronger every
time. I now feel it is time that I become baptised & confirmed.
Sarah Riley:
I want to be confirmed because after thinking a lot about it, I want to
publicly dedicate my life to Christ. I want people to know that I agree with
the decision my parents made for me when I was a child. God has done so much
in my life, so I want to confirm my belief in him, & announce it to all.
Lottie Robertson:
I want to be confirmed because I feel this is the next step. I am certain of
my faith & I want to commit my life to God publicly.
Kathryn Rouse:
I want to get confirmed because I feel like I have grown really close to God
during the past year or so, through personal experiences & also shared ones.
So I would really love to keep this closeness to him & to live my life doing
the right things & with his help keeping my commitment to him!
Hannah Russell:
The reason why I want to be baptised & confirmed is because I want to make a
public commitment of my faith. I made my personal commitment on YF camp ‘05
and I now feel ready to demonstrate my belief to the church community. I am
proud of my belief & this is a perfect way of showing how important it is
for me to have God living in me & changing me, & how important it is to me
to live my life for him.
Joe Standerwick:
I have chosen to be confirmed because I've felt overwhelmed by God since
making a commitment & I want everyone to know that he is in my life.
Milli Standerwick:
Coming to AYF has really helped strengthen my
faith. And I want to follow Christ for the rest of my life.
Grace Stanford:
On YF camp I made a commitment because I believe & trust in God, now I want
to tell the whole church by being confirmed.
Chris Whittock:
I love coming to YF & feel I should learn to get closer to God & can do this
by getting confirmed.
James Whittock:
I have been coming to YF for about a year & a half and I feel that I have
really been touched by God over the last 6 months or so & I just feel that I
will be closer to God by doing this.
Luke Wiedeman:
I wanted to get confirmed because I thought
about it a lot last year & the year before but I don’t really know why I
didn’t get confirmed - maybe I was afraid of responsibility, maybe I wasn’t
mature enough - I don't know. But this year I feel I’ve definitely grown in
my faith a lot & I’m now truly trying my best to live my life for Jesus &
trying to please him. I have had a few experiences in the past year which
have really helped me in my faith. A lot of things have happened & it’s just
made my relationship with God loads stronger, so I want to get confirmed to
have an 'official' relationship with God & then from here go on to tell
others about God & work 'in his name'.
