Stage 1

Aldridge Parish Church on to M5 south   Suggested route Most people may be familiar with this route, but just in case....Erdington Road, after 1.7 miles at 2nd roundabout (A) turn right up Beacon Hill; then left at traffic lights (B), along Beacon Road, after 0.5 miles (C) turn right into Pinfold Lane, after 0.8 miles (D) follow this lane as it turns sharply right and down a hill, leading into Chapel Lane. After a further 1.2 miles (E) turn left on to A34 (Birmingham Road).

Immediately take the slip road (left) to the roundabout at junction 7 of the M6 (F). Keep right on joining the roundabout so as to join the M6 going west (signs for M6 north - this is what eventually happens if you stay on the M6!);
On joining the M6, stay in the left-hand lane as this is now the slip road on to the M5.  Follow the signs to join the M5 south (G).

From Walsall
A34 Birmingham Road to junction 7 of the M6 (F) then as above.
Alternatively, join the M6 south / east at junction 9 (Bescot Road) if this is closer, and then after 1 mile take the slip road on to the M5 south

Stage 2
Junction 8 M6/M5 to Swansea
Follow M5 south to junction 8 (H), just past the Strensham Services.  This is about 45 miles from Aldridge.  At junction 8 take the slip road left; follow the signs
 on to the M50 (round the roundabout to the right) After 20 miles, M50 ends (I) - continue along A40.
 At various roundabouts follow signs A40 for Monmouth. 11 miles to Monmouth.
Road passes through tunnel (J). 6 miles to Raglan services (K) - the traditional stopping place  From Raglan there are two options.
 From past experience each takes about the same time.

Option 1
For: dual carriageway/motorway all the way, only one junction. Against: motorway driving!  7 miles further Stay on A449 (Newport, Cardiff).
 After 11 miles, join the M4 at junction 24, going west towards Cardiff. 46 miles further (P), leave the M4 at junction 42, just after crossing the new bridge;
take the A483 to Swansea.

Option 2  For: more interesting, scenic views from over 1000 feet, 7 miles shorter. Against: numerous roundabouts, more hilly, single carriageway for about half of the distance (but generally 3 lane, with 2 lanes reserved for one direction on uphill sections) Immediately after Raglan services, take the slip road left on to the A40 (Abergavenny). After 9 miles, at roundabout branch left on to A465 (Myrthyr Tydfil) - then straight on at next roundabout. 8 miles further (L), after long climb, take the right exit at roundabout to stay on A465 (Myrthyr Tydfil, Neath). 8 miles further (M), take the right exit at roundabout to stay on A465 (Neath), avoiding Myrthyr Tydfil.
Continue on A465 at subsequent roundabouts.  (Note: signs initially indicate Neath, rather than Swansea.) 26 miles further (N), at roundabout take the first exit to join the M4 (Cardiff) at junction 43. In about 1 mile, leave the M4 at junction 42 (P).
Take the right hand lane and turn right at the traffic lights on to the A483 (Swansea). (If you cross the bridge on the M4 you've gone too far!)

Stage 3
Swansea to Pitton Cross
On the approach to Swansea on the A483, the road crosses a railway bridge, and later passes under another railway bridge.
 About 1 mile after this bridge the traffic lights start!
After the third set of traffic lights recommended lane is the left one! Branch left on to the A4067 (Mumbles, Gower) just after the entrance to the Leisure Centre.
After 2 miles, pass Swansea University on the right; just after this is a set of traffic lights (about the 4th after the Leisure Centre).
Continue for 1 more mile, taking right hand lane and turning right on to B4436 (Gower, Bishopston) 3.5 miles further, turn right (signs to Gower)
After 0.5 miles, turn left at T-junction on to A4118
After 7 miles there is a sharp bend to the left. 1 mile further turn right on to B4118 (Rhossili)
2.3 miles to Pitton Cross Farm; entrance on the left just after a gentle left hand bend, with open common on the right.
Follow the track past the shop and washrooms, and branch right (left hand track enters caravan park). AYF camp is in field off this track, after about 1/4 mile.
