Camp 2007 (all 134 of us!) is one that will be remembered for a long time! It started off
with the working party being unable to get down using the normal route,
as the M5 and M50 were shut due to the recent flooding. They finally
arrived in Rhossili at 5pm - some 4 hours late, and in the rain, started to set
up camp for the main party travelling down the next morning. The working party
members worked so hard and then the next day, just after lunch, the main group
arrived.
Camp then was subject to continuing rain and high winds, and on the Thursday,
after a particularly rough night with torrential rain and extremely high winds,
almost every tent was waterlogged and bedding/sleeping bags were soaked.
In view of this and the forecast of even more rain, the difficult decision was
taken to abandon camp :-(
The working party remained behind and, after the main group has set off for
home, they started the onerous task of getting camp down.
Again they were amazing and worked so hard and got camp down the next day
ready to be loaded onto the lorries. We were so grateful to Rob & Vicky
Richards, Chris Leng and Gerry Leighton, Dave Riley for getting the supply
vehicles down and back from Aldridge to South Wales.
We were also so grateful to Chris Blunt and Jason Standerwick who drove us down
and back from camp and then stayed with us to help when needed.
These special people, together with a dedicated leadership team gave camp their
all, and made good what could have been a miserable event.
This great effort and from the teenagers themselves (they were fantastic) made
camp 2007 a successful albeit short one!
It wasn't all bad news and we did have one really sunny day when great times
were had on Rhossili beach, as you can see from the pictures.

(these pictures are just a small selection of the hundreds taken and Ian
Bryant will be compiling a dvd with all the pictures take on camp together with
movie clips)
